But it appears the little Driiker might actually make a good raiding bandit character, with his sword & shield bonuses, which surprised me! But he might struggle a little wearing heavier armor. Probably least played are Driik and Islanders, mostly because they tend to roll poorer stats overall (except islanders are good at fishing). As a result, those two tribes - Owls & Kaumo - are probably played by the majority of players on the forums, with Owl favored if you want a very focused stealth-survival-archer character and Kaumo if you want a good jack-of-all-trades. But Kaumo are pretty nice too, as they seem to be 'penalized' less often and even when they are not first in everything, they tend to be #2 in the most, and it seems they are 'poor' at nothing.
